Install the Patera Extension
The Patera browser extension connects your X accounts to the dashboard. It reads the session of any X account you're already signed into in your browser (no passwords, no OAuth) and passes that session to Patera so it can post on your behalf.
You can install it on Chrome or Firefox.
Install
Pick your browser
- Chrome / Brave / Edge / Arc / any Chromium-based browser → use the Chrome extension.
- Firefox / LibreWolf / Zen Browser / any Firefox-based browser → use the Firefox extension.
Install from the official store
Sign in to X in the same browser
The extension reads the session of whichever X accounts you're already signed into. To connect three accounts, sign in to all three in that browser (separate tabs or separate profiles both work).
Open the Patera dashboard
The extension detects every active X session and offers to add them to your dashboard. Confirm the ones you want and they appear in the account selector.
Connect from inside the dashboard
You don't have to wait for auto-detection. The dashboard always shows a Connect an X account button (labelled via the Patera browser extension) in two places:
- In the Connected Accounts card, just under your Google account.
- As a footer item at the bottom of the X account selector dropdown.
Both stay visible whether you already have accounts connected or none at all and clicking either opens the same extension install and connect modal. This is the affordance the multi-account page points to.
The modal walks you through three steps:
- Install the extension for your browser (Firefox and Chrome buttons are in the modal).
- Sign in to X in that same browser.
- Patera securely links the account and it appears in your dashboard.
What the extension actually does
| Action | Where it runs |
|---|---|
| Reads the session cookie of X accounts you're already logged into | Locally, in your browser |
| Posts that session token to your Patera dashboard so the server can act on your behalf | Over HTTPS to your authenticated Patera account |
| Watches for tweets and engagement on accounts you've configured | Server-side (the extension is not doing the live tracking) |
The extension is a session bridge. The heavy lifting happens server-side once your session is connected: real-time streaming, AI generation, posting.
Re-connecting an account
If a session expires (X signs you out), sign in to X again in the same browser. The extension picks up the new session automatically. No reinstallation needed.
Removing an account
Open the dashboard and find the account in the Connected Accounts card (the same card that shows your Google account). Click its Unlink button, then confirm in the dialog that appears. The session is invalidated server-side immediately and the account disappears from every picker.
The account selector dropdown only switches which account posts and has a Clear selection option. It is not where you unlink.
